The Weakest Link
The audiophile is always looking for a way to improve the listening experience by making it more real and closer to original. One major factor that cannot be controlled is the AC power to operate the equipment. It is what it is. However the AC can be cleaned (noise removed) with the use of power line conditioners. This can help with the performance of the system. The most overlooked aspect of the design of all equipment is the safety fuse. At the end of the electronic design the fuse is added. This fuse becomes the weakest link in the power input chain. It is detrimental to the absolute capability of equipment performance by presenting a resistance along the path of AC input current flow.
As the fuse heats up from current flow the resistance increases equating to more voltage drop. The voltage drop across the fuse changes with current flow (music demand). This happens in the power amplifier and allows what I call power supply modulation. To remedy this problem the fuse can be bypassed .
The Swiss Digital Fuse (SDF) allows for that. The SDF is an inline current sensing electronic switch. It exhibits no resistance to current flow. It is calibrated to trip exactly at the same point the equipment fuse is rated at. The use of this in the power supply line to the equipment allows the manufactures input power fuse to be bypassed. THE PERFORMANCE DIFFERENCE WHEN USING THE SWISS DIGITAL FUSE IS AMAZING!
